Hello everyone. I am doctor Sirisha Singh. I am a dermatologist and aesthetic dermatologist. We are going to do a brief talk on itching of the skin during summers and how to avoid itching of the skin during summers and how treat the itching of the skin during summers. Itching of the skin during summers is a very common problem. It is particularly common in people who inherently have dry skin even people who do not have inherently have dry skin if they live in areas where where there is low ambient humidity as we do have in Delhi,.
India we tend to develop dry skin during summers due to the low humidity. Summers also comes with a lot of sweating and accumulation of sweat on the surface of the skin also results in itching of the skin. In addition to this we tend to take several baths during summers to try and cool down our body temperature. During these baths if you use a harsh soap or a harsh cleanser it can further dry out the skin and cause itching of the skin. This topic focuses specifically on itching of the skin without the presence of a rash that is.
Itching with no underlying skin infection. to avoid itching of the skin the most important step is to use a gentle non foaming cleanser while taking a bath and one could take a bath with lukewarm water or cool water to try and cool down the skin. The gentle non foaming cleanser will prevent the skin from drying out and will prevent the itching from getting worse. Once could also take a bath with oatmeal. That is in a tub of bath water you could put half a cup of ground oatmeal. The oatmeal cleanses the skin and at the same time hydrates.
The skin effectively to prevent drying of the skin and to prevent excessive itching of the skin. Another way of looking after hydration of skin is looking at what we consume. It is advisable to consume a lots of fruits and vegetables. Particularly juicy fruits and vegetables which have a lot of fluid and also concentrate on drinking about two to three litres of water during the day. Because we not only need to look after the water requirements of the body but due to sweating we lose extra water and that extra water needs to be replenished.
In the body system. One could also wear clothes which are made of cotton or linen. So clothes with loose breathable fabric to prevent sweating of the skin and to prevent blockage of the sweat glands of the skin. In addition to this a lot of people feel that we don’t really need a moisturiser on the skin. But if you are living in an environment like Delhi where whether is quite dry the skin tends to get dry in summers, one would need a moisturiser. However one needs to use a very light moisturiser. Perhaps a moisturiser which contains aloe.
Vera which works very gently on the surface of the skin without blocking up the sweat glands of the skin. If in spite of all these problems you do have intractable itching you might have an underlying medical condition or you might have a certain skin infection which does not show up as rash on the surface of the skin and it is advisable to consult a dermatologist for further advice and treatment of your underlying problems. If you have any further queries feel free to contact me my contact details are given in the description.
The Reasons Why You Have An Itchy Dry Scalp
Hello everyone this is Breanna Rutter from howtoblackhair and in this tutorial I will like to talk about the reasons why you have a dry itchy scalp so if you’re on this earth in your living and breathing and eating and sleeping and operating as a person or as an animal you are going to have issues with dry skin this is something that’s unavoidable because there’s always changes such as if you’re hydrated if you eat well the area you live in so in this tutorial I’m going to explain in 8 reasons as to why you may have issues.
With a try itchy scalp so the first most important reason as to why you may have issues with the dry itchy out is because you don’t have a cleansing or conditioning routine so even though you may keep your hair clean and you may keep your hair conditioned it’s hard to find a way dry scalp if you’re very inconsistent with how often you cleanse the condition your hair you want a routine that your skin is used to that you can use to so it stops yourself from having an itchy dry scalp if you watch her hair too much this will lead to dry scalp.
Or if you’re always putting water on your hair and scalp and then a couple of days you don’t your scalp starts to dry up or feels like it’s lacking so you consistent routine you can be up to adjust whether or not you need shampoo sessions throughout the week or you need to condition your hair a little bit more to get your scalp in perfect condition so the second reason as to why you may have issues with your dry scalp is because you’re not keeping her scalp moisturize is really important especially with AfricanAmerican.
Hair that you keep your hair as moisturized as possible and the same thing goes for your scalp water will be your best friend for moisturizing it is the number one moisturizing product ever to exist that’s where you get moisture so even if you simply have to use a water spray bottle to mist your scalp you want to make sure you seal in the water was type of oil to keep your skin hydrated the third reason as to why you may have issues with an itchy and dry scout because you are dehydrated if you don’t drink enough water for the recommended.
Amount of water a day where is the water coming from to moisturize your scalp what’s very important in your body are your vital organs like the rain your heart and lungs your digestive system so if you’re not taking any water then your organs are absorbing as much as they can and nothing is left for your scalp and even your hair so you notice that oh everything I do nothing works my scalp is always dry and itchy you probably need to drink more water so my 4th reason as to why your scalp may be itchy and dry is because you are using.
Humectants in a dry environment so depending on where you may live the climate may always be dry or you are experiencing a dry part of the season if you use humectants in your hair products during this time your scalp will be dry the purpose of a humectant is to attract as much moisture as you can but the downside about this is that if you’re going through the dry times a year we live in a dry area there is nowhere to extract moisture but from your scalp in your hair so if you use humectants when the air dry.
Or you’re in a dry climate or environment this will make her scalp even drier so save this for more of the rainy seasons or more of cool weather rather than using it when it’s hot out or not as humid when trying to fix your dry and itchy scalp you must keep this in mind so my 5th reason as to why you’re experiencing this is because you have product build up in your hair so depending on how much products you like to use or how heavy of ingredients is this will clog your pores and stop moisture which is water from penetrating.
Your skin in your scalp so if you have product build up this often leads to an itchy scalp and then released to a dry scalp because water cant penetrate through your product enough to give yourself moisture so if you like to use a lot of gels and serums and hair sprays make sure you wash your hair little bit more often to stop yourself from having product build so my 6th reason of why you are experiencing this hair problem is because you have mineral buildup in your water so you got to make sure that from the last tip you don’t have to many.
Products in your hair but in this to you have to be sure that your hair isn’t coated with minerals from your water if you happen to live in a place that has hot water you will notice that your hair will even be unmanageable at times because you can’t get moisture to really penetrate the hair like you need so in the description box below I have a link to my website actually talks about how to more mineral buildup from happening on your hair and the products that you can use to help cleanse your hair because of minerals.
So there’s common minerals that are in our water such as sulfer calcium and even some metals and as these things sit on top of your hair they are able to actually dissolve into your hair will be absorbed by your hair so they sit on top of your hair shaft in order to get the most out of your hair to stop your scalp also from being dry you need to use some type of deep cleansing shampoo to do so now my 7th reason as to why it may be hard.
To control a dry itchy scalp is because you use sulfate shampoo by nature sulfate shampoos are extremely cleansing shampoo that strip off almost everything so even when you shampoo your hair with sulfate shampoo this often leaves yoru hair dryer in your scalp even more dry make sure to use the natural shampoos to wash her hair because you just need to clean your hair you don’t need to strip your hair so by using more natural shampoos that don’t contain sulfate this is your hair in your scalp a good clean without constantly.
Battling dry scalp my favorite natural shampoo that I like to use this to Dr. Bronners Castile Soap or Castile Shampoo in the link below you can also check it out on the post as I talk about the different shampoos that I like to use to avoid an itchy scalp so my last and final reason as to why you may be suffering from a dry and itchy scalp is because you naturally produce low sebum so you’re like okay what does this have to do with scalp my hair what is sebum, sebum is the natural oil that your scalp excretes to keep moisture.
Lot into your scalp and into your hair so by nature naturally AfricanAmerican people produce lower sebum productions than others so that’s why it’s even harder to make sure to keep our hair moisturized what you want to do to help this situation is to use oils that similarly mimic what sebum is which is jojoba oil and even coconut oil so coconut oil happens to be my favorite oil for my hair and my scalp in all I do after wash or a co wash or just after misting my scalp and hair I dip my fingers in my coconut oil and I run.
My fingers across my parts If I have braid or twists and it takes away the dry scalp instantly so if you tried everything on the list sulfate shampoos to making sure that you don’t use humectants in dry climate and all the other reasons you just naturally produce lower sebum so you have to make sure you lock in water with some type oil so those are my reasons as to why you may be experiencing a dry and itchy scalp in this tutorial has been helpful to you make sure to leave any comments you have done in the comments section below.
DermTV Very Itchy Fingers, a.k.a. Dishydrosis DermTV Epi ‘6
Hello, I’m Dr. Neal Schultz pause And welcome to DermTV. This may be the season for itchy skin, but chances are if it’s your fingers that are itching, it’s not because they’re dry. Most of the time, itchy fingers are caused by a condition called Dishydrosis and the itch it causes can really drive you crazy. And it’s not just itching that Dishydrosis causes You actually get little bumps on the bottom and sides of your fingers. And the bumps are actually tiny blisters. Dishydrosis literally means, bad sweating, and it used to be thought that these crazily itchy bumps.
Were filled with sweat. That’s why it was named Dishydrosis. But the fluid isn’t sweat it’s actually serum, which is the clear fluid in your blood. The most common cause of Dishydrosis is extreme stress, although not every outbreak can be linked directly to a stressful situation. On a personal note, I can tell you that I’ve only experienced Dishydrosis once in my life. It was early in my medical training after a very stressful night of being up all night taking care of a lot of very sick patients. The next morning the hospital dermatologist was making rounds.
And I showed him my hands, and he said, Boy you must have had a really rough night. So. The itching and bumps both finally go away after a few days. As it gets better, there are these really interesting telltale little collars of dead flaky skin that peel off. Those tiny matchhead size collars of dead skin get larger. and then smaller. over a few days and are caused by the bubble of serum as it rises through the higher levels of the epidermis. It’s like taking horizontal slices through a sphere.
Starting tiny at the bottom, then getting larger, and finally smaller again. To treat the itching and bumps, topical cortisone creams and antiitch lotions with menthol are best. If that doesn’t stop the itch, cold water can usually give temporary relief, but never try to stop the itching with hot water. Even though hot water feels good and stops the itch, it also causes the itch to come back worse a few minutes later. After the itch and bumps are gone, the flaking skin can continue for a week. It can be camouflaged with a moisturizer,.
DermTV How to Treat Dry Skin and Itchy Skin in the Winter DermTV Episoded 144
Music Hello, I’m Dr. Neal Schultz pause and welcome to DermTV. It’s wintertime and, despite your best efforts to the contrary, your skin is getting dry and it’s starting to itch. Let me tell you how to stop that itching. First, try a nonsedating antihistamine like Allegra, Hismanal or Zyrtec and, the reason I say nonsedating, is because we don’t want to put you to sleep. Now antihistamines won’t help the itching for everybody, but they’re certainly worth a try. Use a cold water humidifier in your bedroom, especially at nighttime when you’re sleeping. You spend several.
Hours there, and that’s a perfect opportunity to restore the moisture in your skin. Use a cold water humidifier, not a hot water one, and make sure the chamber that holds the water is easily detachable. That way, you can clean it every day and avoid the buildup of undesirable germs. If you don’t want to use a humidifier, and if you have a freestanding radiator, you can actually put a pot of water on the radiator. When the dry steam heat in the radiator comes on, it causes the water in the pot to evaporate,.
Again putting more moisture into the air. Just make sure you clean out that pot every day. But the most important thing for helping the itching of dry winter skin, of course, is moisturizers. Apply them as soon as you get done patting dry after your bath or shower to help lock in the moisture that you pick up in your bath or shower. Reapply them frequently and, if your skin is very itchy, get a moisturizer with menthol in it because menthol causes a cooling sensation it supersedes and stops the itching. An example is.
Sarna lotion, Sarna, and that’s available without a prescription. Avoid wearing wool because wool fabrics have little fibers that poke out into the skin and really, really aggravate itching in people who have dry itchy skin. Lastly, if you’re itching, don’t scratch. Scratching feels good, stops the itching but, unfortunately, it begets more itching. If you are itching, you can just apply pressure to the area, as I am on my arm, and that pressure will stop the itching without causing more itching. But the most important thing to remember, if you’re itching from dry winter.

Dog Health Treatment Advice How to Treat Prevent Your Dogs Dry, Itchy Skin
Hi, I’m Doctor Aimee Beger. I’m a veterinarian, and today we’re going to be talking about how to treat and prevent your dogs itchy skin. Itchy skin in dogs is typically from a variety of reasons, but the most common ones are either external parasites, such as fleas and ticks, or allergies that your dog may be experiencing. The best way to prevent allergies or itchy skin in your dog is to get them on a good, high quality food, to keep them bathed on a regular basis, and also adding supplements such as fatty acids, omega three, omega six.
Supplements to their food. Also brushing them on a regular basis definitely helps, and to prevent the flea and tick infestation that we commonly see. And using a good topical preventative medication is.is also a good way to prevent parasites. So, the fatty acid supplement that we use at our clinic is something such as this by Vet Solutions. It’s just an omega three fatty acid supplement. You can use it in your dog or cat. And it’s very easy to administer, you just pump it on their food once daily. Things you might see if your dog.
How to Treat a Dry Scalp DermTV Epi 482
When people think they have a dry scalp it’s usually because they see white flakes. But did you know there’s virtually no such thing as a dry scalp Let me tell you what it really is and how to fix it. In the DermTV episode on dry facial skin, I explained that flaking on the face, which can look like dry skin, is often dandruff. Sure, the skin on your face can be dry and therefore flaky, especially on your cheeks, but in other places it’s often actually dandruff. But what about flaking on your scalp.
Is that a dry scalp, or is it dandruff again This one’s easy, because 99 of the time it’s not dry skin on your scalp it’s almost always dandruff. You see, if you’re not bald, if you have hair on your scalp, it’s almost impossible to have dry skin there. So if you see flaking on your scalp, it’s actually dandruff even if you see flaking that looks just like the flaking from dry skin. Here, it’s the result of excess oil, not on the surface of the scalp, but underneath it.
That excess oil causes inflammation which results in a little bit of redness, a little bit of swelling, and then causes the skin to be shed prematurely. while on the other hand, normal skin cells fall off on time and invisibly. But when the skin cells fall off early, they don’t have a chance to separate from each other completely so they fall off in tiny mini sheets which are the flakes that you see. Well that’s really good news, because if it were dry skin, how could you ever apply a moisturizer to your scalp.
Without really messing up your hair Fortunately, the treatment of dandruffinduced scalp flaking is easily accomplished with shampoos, so we usually don’t need to apply lotions or creams to your scalp. Instead, buy an overthecounter shampoo whose active ingredient is either tar, salicylic acid, zinc, or selenium and use it daily for 57 days. To use it, lather it up for a minute, then rinse out, and then lather up again for a half a minute before rinsing a final time. That will usually control the dandruff so you can then use the shampoo less frequently.
DIY Itchy Scalp Dandruff Treatment
Is your scalp itchy Do you have dandruff Ew. I’m kidding. Actually, dandruff is really common amongst all hair types. Even animals can get dandruff in their fur, you know, sometimes. So don’t feel bad if you have it. So if you have dandruff I’m assuming you wanna get rid of it, right Well, sometimes it’s not dandruff. Sometimes it’s just product buildup. You need a clarifying shampoo to remove the buildup, but if it is dandruff, then it’s usually a scalp disorder or a fungus that causes your skin to react and.
Itch and flake. And you need to get a medicated shampoo in order to treat it. If it’s really serious, you might wanna see a dermatologist to see what you can do. If it’s mild though, you might be able to treat it at home using Listerine guys. Weird. I thought so too, but actually Listerine, back in the day, was used to prevent infection during surgery, then it became a mouthwash. And now we’re going to use the ingredients to fix our itchy scalps. Yay. Okay, this is all you need.
You wanna get a spray bottle. And you can find these at, I don’t know, CVS, $0.10 cents. I’m just joking but, nothing’s $0.10 cents anymore. I don’t remember. They’re really cheap. The little travel size things. Or you can just use like an empty bottle of something else but you need to put it in a spray bottle. Or a cotton swab. You can use those, too. It needs to be the yellow Listerine, okay It cannot be like the green one, or the purple one, or the pink one it needs to be the yellow one cuz that has the, you know, the,.
The right ingredients for this science stuff. Okay. Take your hair out and what you wanna do is with the cotton swab or the spray bottle, is you wanna start spraying it directly onto the scalp. Now, it’s okay if it gets on your hair. However, protect the length of your hair, because it dos have alcohol in it, and you don’t wanna dry out your hair, unless you just don’t care, then just go ahead and pour the bottle over your scalp. Well, you really don’t want to just, like, pour the bottle,.
Though, because then you’re just going to waste all this Listerine. It’s, there’s no point. Just save your Listerine, put it in a spray bottle. And then massage it on your scalp. Leave it on your scalp for maybe 1015 minutes. Okay Now, when I tested this out, I didn’t feel any burning or tingling or anything like that. However, if you do have scratches on your scalp just be aware it might sting, so you might not want to use it. But if you don’t mind the stinging then just, you know,.
Know that it’s not going to hurt you. Now while we’re waiting for the 10 minutes, what’s happening is the Listerine is. You know battling the yeast and the fungus and all you know, those bad things that cause the flaking and redness. So after ten, 15 minutes you can go ahead and wash and condition with your regular shampoo and conditioner, or you can use your medicated shampoo if you want to. And for this process what you want to do is repeat every single day for a week. Or until you see an improvement.
So I wash my hair. You know there is other things too that Listerine helps to treat like animal’s problem like I mentioned earlier bald spots, toe fungus, if you have you know, toe fungus issues you can soak your toes. It’s really just an awesome product actually. So afterwards, when you’re done washing it out, just go ahead and comb your hair out and style as usual. And after a week or so you’ll notice you have some soft, beautiful hair. No flakes, I mean depending on the level. I mean this might not work for you.
